Comfort : The Bruehl Terrace was laid out in 1738 on the site of the previous town ramparts. Count Brühl, a minister in the cabinet of August of Saxony, had beautiful gardens built, and a flight of 41 steps, and the dolphin fountain. Dresden is a city of the arts: architecture depicted in the Zwinger, music as shown in the opera, painting to be seen in the Gallery of the Old Masters, with masterpieces of German, Dutch and Italian masters; the most famous being Raphaels Sistine Madonna. Do not miss the Frauenkirche and hear the fascinating story of its reconstruction. The Old Market Square at the very centre of Dresden is a good starting point for a sightseeing tour on foot. All historic sights, business and political districts are within walking distance. This location guarantees easy access to Dresden's famous Opera House, Royal Castle with the awesome Zwinger court - that gave Dresden the name 'Florence on the river Elbe'. When in Dresden, an evening at the fabulous opera house is a must. Called the Semper Opera after its architect, it is impressive outside, but really stunning inside.
